Aquamarine & co. (2024)

The series deals with the element of water. When a strong jet of water hits a smooth water surface, different shapes are created. And although water is colourless, colour reflections occur depending on the surface of the pool, the incident light and the clarity of the water. With this series, I would like to draw attention to the topic of water, which has become increasingly existential in recent years – in view of the increasing water shortage in large parts of the world and the attempted control of water as a plaything of power and profit. This approach is realised by using close-ups to depict water in its appearance as a treasure – comparable to precious stones that are valuable to humans. The individual shots from different wells have a different colour, which comes close to that of the corresponding precious stones. I found inspiration for this project in the countless fountains in the localities of Valcamonica, a traditionally water-rich Alpine valley in northern Italy, where the water still flows (almost) inexhaustibly.
